Over the past two weeks, many people in Louisiana have lost their homes and belongings from the flooding. Although I was not directly affected, many people that I know were. My mother's company went around giving supplies to flood victims in Denham Springs and Gonzales. I chose to go help out with carrying supplies to the flooded houses.
The neighborhoods around Denham Springs were covered with debris, broken cars, and furniture that had floated out of homes. Hundreds of people had made food stands where flood victims could get free food. Church groups and volunteers from around the country were helping people clean up. Most houses in the area were flooded, and some almost went underwater. It was a horrible event but it showed how helpful people are when natural disasters hit.

This summer I read The End by Charlie Higson as one of my choice summer reading books. It was by far the best book I read all summer. The story is set in modern day London, England, where all adults have turned into flesh-eating zombies. As I was reading, I noticed that the points of view during the book switched from first person to third person in different chapters. This added more suspense and overall made the book more enjoyable. The characters were well-described and none of them were dull or one-dimensional. This was the last book of a great series, and I would recommend reading the series.
